This season, unless otherwise mentioned, you have until Fridays at 2pm Eastern time to submit your feedback.

Welcome to The Expanse Podcast Double Take. This is where I give you my first impressions right after seeing the sixth episode of season 2 titled “Paradigm Shift”. I’m creating these short posts to encourage listener feedback by asking questions about the episode.

This week’s question are…

1) Why did Naomi lie about destroying the missile?

2) What was the purpose of Avasarala’s rant?

3) What happened to the Martian Marines at the end?

I’d like to thank everyone who has subscribed to this podcast and encourage you to join the discussion by sending in your feedback by calling +1-805-910-7656 or by e-mailing me at or visiting the website at If you are enjoying this podcast please consider leaving me a review in iTunes.

  1. Hi Scott,

Elisa from LA finally finding time to watch The Expanse live and chime in on your questions. Season 2 has just blown me away. I read book one and two as you suggested this past summer and I am really enjoying the show so much more, with all the book knowledge and background.

    Now on to your questions.

    1) Naomi wants to help the belt and her people. She now realizes to have this tech/weapon is power. She wants everyone to think it is destroyed, but if should drastic measures be required particularly for belters or the OPA, she will go to our sacred cargo.

    2) Avasarala wants Mao and Errinwright to know where she stands and that she is aware of all their power plays and secret agenda with the protomolecule. She is trying to negotiate with Mao, to see if she can out more information as well. She is doing this for the good of the universe and I applaud her.

    3) I don’t want to answer this because I read the books. That said I loved the way the air battle and land massacre were staged. Of course, they made it a cliff hanger, but I am dying to see how everything is revealed next episode. I like that the made it kinda hectic and vague. They put viewer in Frankie’s perspective, so we have the same confused experience.

I am loving your podcast and coverage of The Expanse, in particular your book reader section at the end. Thanks for all you do, Mark.
