Welcome everyone. I’m thrilled that you’ve joined me today to discuss The Expanse.

This was another great world building episode. I feel bad for Miller. He was just doing his job and looks where it’s got him.

In this week’s podcast after sharing some news from The Expanse, I talk about the four locations of the episode. Earth, Ceres Station, Tycho Station and the Rocinante as well as the abandoned asteroid mine.

We get a little bit of Earth in this episode with Christen Avasarala acquiring a Tycho Station spy from her old acquaintance Carlos. Not entirely convinced that the OPA is not responsible for the mysterious attacks, she wants to know what Fred Johnson is up to and she’s willing to blackmail an old friend to get the information.

At an Abandoned Asteroid Mine in the Martian Trade Zone, we see Diogo, the water thief from Ceres Station working with his uncle Matao to bring back asteroid fragments for profit. A MCRN ship arrives to inspect them and gives Matao a hard time. At wit’s end, he ejects his nephew Diogo into space in an environment suit and then retaliates against the Martians, hurtling his cargo at their ship and getting destroyed himself in the process. Leaving Diogo all alone in space.

On Tycho Station, there are several standoffs between Fred Johnson and Holden as they weight each other up. An uneasy peace is formed and the crew of the Rocinante are offered safe haven in exchange for testifying in front of the U.N. Security Council on what they saw. Fred admits that he wants to use them to gain a seat for the OPA at the table. Meanwhile, the Rocinante is retrofitted to change her appearance and make her look like a gas hauler. Fred wants to use her for a special mission but Holden and the others refuse. Instead they agree to help hime look for the last survivor of the Scopuli, the only person left alive that may know what started the whole mess.

On Ceres Station, Miller confronts his captor who turns out to be none other than Anderson Daws. Daws grills Miller for everything he knows about Julie Mao and the Scopuli. He realizes that Miller is actually in love with the missing woman and decides he’s had enough of him. He sentences Miller to death but Octavia intervenes and saves him. Miller takes what he know to Captain Shaddid thinking she’ll be able to help him, but it turns out she’s working with the OPA. She confiscates Millers’ evidence and fires him from Star Helix.

After recapping and discussing these points from the episode I finish off with some great feedback contributions from listeners.
