Welcome to The Expanse Podcast Double Take. This is where I give you my first impressions right after seeing the third episode of season 3 titled “Assured Destruction”. I’m creating these short posts to encourage listener feedback by asking questions about the episode.

This week’s question are…

1) What will Strickland do next?

2) What will Anna do next?

3) What will admiral Suthers do next?

I’d like to thank everyone who has subscribed to this podcast and encourage you to join the discussion by sending in your feedback by calling +1-805-910-7656 or by e-mailing me at feedback@solotalkmedia.com or visiting the website at solotalkmedia.com. 1. Hello, Mark!
So glad to have this community. I’ve been missing opportunities to share my thoughts. Hope to get you to massive 30 responses per episode. I also hope that everyone will stick around when it all adds up to two hour long weekly discussion episodes.
I believe at one point you added content to the wiki using the user-id solotalkmedia. I’ve been listing weekly episodes with links on the wiki’s podcast show. I share your podcast every time the subject comes up on reddit.

These two episodes have been what I was looking forward to from the books seeing everybody on the Rocinante. (I’ll call it the Pinus Contorta for the sake of formality but we all expect things to get reverted back. ) We really get to see what things would be like when everyone first meets which is something we didn’t get much detail on in the books. There was a lot of feeling. I try to avoid picking favorites but I’m really enjoying Amos and Prax together.

I’m finding the relationship of Booobbie ;D with Avasarala more real even though I still don’t think Bobbie herself is as good as the Books. The battles coming up when everyone converges on Io will be what seals the future of the Expanse. It’ll be pivotal and most formative to opinions about the world/universe. I cannot wait.

Cotyar. now, Cotyar Ghazi. Theo Simibelli. Poor Theo. I can understand why Cotyar did it but,… I had imagined that it would be fun to have Theo appear on the UNTP in the later half of the season. Well, his demise shows how the show has really made very nuanced characters. Bad men do things thinking they’re good. Good men do bad things. Or, however Jared Harris’ Anderson Dawes said it.

Since the books didn’t put Souther on the Agatha King, it’s hard to speculate how they will resolve this. I think Souther will have to find a way to sabotage the Agatha King and escape with his officers. Perhaps, there’s a ship bearing the same name in the Jupiter fleet as the one that was the original flagship in the book and they simply didn’t conflate the two.

Strickland will probably do whatever Errinwright commands by relay through Nguyễn. Errinwright never had this much influence in the books. He’s just so devious. So is Nguyễn. Both of those characters getting so much more depth than any villains so far in the books. The books are great in so many details but the villains are where the books fall short.

They even turned Jules-Pierre Mao into a deeper character following his direct interaction with the kids like Mei. He may be torn right now but he’ll cover his backside when it comes donw to it, I believe. The alternative is what? Go down with the figurative ship?

Getting back to Errinwright. How dark is he to be throwing blame for consequences of his own actions. We didn’t care about Errinwritght in the books but we want to see Shawn Doyle’s hang.

I didn’t get my comments in on time last week. Anna was brought in early and the part I had been curious is how much of her family they would keep in place. It’s funny how that was about the only thing in episode two that actually came from the books. (THAT BATTLE WAS AMAZING THOUGH).

the thread of alex messaging talissa was interesting and i expected it to go somewhere further but it seemed to be cut well short of meeting its potential.

I’m sure I will come up with more thoughts but I’ll stop here this time. I thank you Mark for building this.
